Psalm 62: When All Else Fails, Wait
Reflection
Proverbs is a book of wisdom for living. The divinely inspired, practical nuggets of truth can help you in every area of your life. Wisdom and folly, pride and humility, justice and vengeance, laziness and work, poverty and wealth, friends and neighbors, love and lust, anger and strife, masters and servants, life and death—all these relevant topics and more are considered to help us in our relationship with God and others.
But today let's take a short break from your reading of Proverbs to find rejuvenation through personal worship in the Psalms.

An On Time God!
"When all else fails, wait on God!" Is that your perspective when faced with a problem that simply defies solution? If you can't do anything more, when all other avenues have been tried and all other sources of help have been exhausted, then wait on God.
But notice what David says in Psalm 62. Waiting on God is not a sign of weakness but a position of strength! Nothing that man could do would shake David's resolve in waiting on God (v. 1-4). David knew that God was his certain strength, and so he instructs others to put their trust in him as well (v. 5-8). By comparison with God's infinite power, man's strength is puny and vain (v. 9-12).
Whenever you have to wait in a line today, let it be a reminder to you of David's source of strength and yours. "I stand silently before the Lord, waiting for him to rescue me. For salvation comes from him alone" (v. 1). Share that verse with the person in front of you.

Prayer
O God, you are so patient with us. How often have we rushed ahead to do things our way rather than waiting for you to guide us. That only shows our lack of trust in you. But David reminded us today that you alone are our Rock, our rescuer, our defense, our fortress. And we have no reason not to wait for you for you are an on time God! We like David will stand silently before you and wait, trusting in your perfect timing. In the name of our Savior! Amen!
