Day 98
Reflection
When David dies his son Solomon assumes the throne and ushers in a golden age for Israel. The magnificent temple of God is finally built to his glory. And yet, Solomon takes his father's weakness steps farther, and his devotion to God is diminished by his love for pagan wives—setting the pattern of failure for many kings to come. After years of division, contention and confusion, the prophet Elijah emerges to challenge King Ahab and the prophets of Baal, reminding us once again of the power and glory that are God's alone.
It's time to spend a few quiet moments of worship alone with him, just to refresh us on our journey through the Word. Let's get ready to sing him praises!

Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord!
A little boy who loved to listen to music was bitterly disappointed because he could neither play an instrument nor sing. But a kindly gentleman encouraged him with these words: "There are many ways of making music. What matters is the song in your heart." That little boy—Antonio Stradivarius—took the man at his word and became the world's greatest violin maker.
Perhaps, you have an equally low estimation of your own singing ability. If so, Psalm 33:1-3 will challenge you with the privilege and responsibility of singing joyfully to the Lord. As if anticipating excuses, the psalmist opens with the command to sing. This is not just a good idea for the righteous! The character of God makes musical expression an appropriate part of worship. So too are instrumental arrangement (v.2), songs of your own creation, and tumultuous expressions of praise (v.3). Your sovereign Creator is worthy of them all.
It's time to sing! Find a hymnbook—and, search YouTube for the songs of your choosing—and sing along for a time of musical rejoicing in the Lord. It will help you carry a tune in your heart all throughout the day!

Prayer
It is said that the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those who sang best. So let us make a joyful noise unto the Lord praising ye the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! With all our soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation! Thank you in Jesus name, amen!
