Uzziah Violates Priests Office |
Scripture
Observation
Uzziah assumes the throne of Judah at age sixteen. His fifty-two-year reign is marked by mighty military and agricultural achievements. Sadly, his life ends on a bitter note: In proud arrogance he intrudes into the priest's office—and so is excluded from the temple for the rest of his life. His son Jotham continues in the ways of God. But the reintroduction of Baal and Moloch worship under Ahaz sends the nation into a downward spiritual spiral from which it will never fully recover.
Application
Does God have a say in every area of your life? Before you answer too quickly, run through a mental checklist of your daily activities; sleep, meals, leisure time, family life, dating life, study habits, church duties, personal relationships physical fitness. Are God's "fingerprints" visible in each of these areas?
God considers every minute of your life important—not just the portion you spend in church, prayer, or Bible reading. He cares about the books you read, the food you eat, the friends you cultivate, the habits you practice. Uzziah learned that God prospers the person who seeks the Lord and orders his steps accordingly (26:5). That doesn't mean you'll be free from problems or adversaries. Uzziah still faced daily "faith tester," But armed with the strength of the Lord, he emerged victorious in battle after battle. And so can you!
Put your own name in place of Uzziah's in 26:5—"As long as____followed the paths of God,____prosper." Which of those areas of your life need to come under His control in order for that verse to describe you?

Prayer
Father, Father please do not let us be blindsided by corruption that may lead us to idol worship. We know we have to be very careful about what we are consumed with. We have to make sure the things we are living for are worth dying for—we want You in every area of our life. We live for you oh, Lord and living for you lead us to eternality! Thank you Jesus for putting eternality in our heart!
