Day 15
Observation
Joseph was faithful to God while a mysterious prisoner. He was later rewarded for it by experiencing an incredible rise to power in Egypt. A difficult dream sent by God to Pharaoh jars the memory of the chief butler, and Joseph is promoted from prisoner to prime minister because of his God-given insight. God’s revelation of a worldwide famine prompts Pharaoh to give Joseph over-sight of all affairs of Egypt. When the famine reaches Canaan Joseph’s brothers begin a series of trips to Egypt to find food. There they are confronted with the truth of their carefully concealed crimes.
Application
The Bible is filled with stories of men and women who took their faith in God so serious that they were willing to be imprisoned—and even martyred—for what they believed. Joseph, Daniel, Peter, John, Paul and other unnamed saints in the Christians’ Hall of Faith
(Hebrew 11:36) spent time behind bars because of their uncompromising stand for God. Add to that the Iron Curtain Christians of the twentieth century, and you have an impressive army of “Convicts for Christ”!
It is imperative that we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are experiencing imprisonment, torture, and even martyrdom for their faith? Though we may never meet them face to face this side of heaven, we can still play a vital role in sustaining them with our prayers.

Prayer
Lord, watch over and provide comfort for our modern-day Josephs all over the land. Let them bring more people into the faith through their faith so that they can too reap the reward of eternity. And thank you Lord in your son’s Jesus name, amen!
